    Tournament hosts England were drawn in Group A in The 1996 UEFA European Football Championships. EURO 96, and designated to play all their Group Stage matches at Wembley Stadium. England opened the tournament versus Switzerland with a draw (1-1) at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 8th June 1996. Alan Shearer opened the scoring, his first international goal in 14 games but, England visibly tired in the second half. Kubilay T?rkyilmaz equalised from the penalty spot, and but for goalkeeper David Seaman, England might well have lost.
