In 99/00, the club was promoted for an incredible second consecutive season, arriving once again in the promised land of the Premier League. However it was too soon for Joe Royle's Cityzens side, with the club relegated immediately back to the First Division in 00/01 – despite the impressive signing of former World Player of the Year George Weah.
